“Flojo” (pronounced flo-ho) translates literally from Spanish to English as “loose.” In Cuban vernacular, it is used derogatorily and homophobically to describe men as weak, etc. This project explores queer male longing, the weakness this longing generates, and the strength that contradicts it from owning one’s equality and feelings for someone. Written and drawn before the covid-19 pandemic, this project takes on a new layer due to isolation and introspection of the current moment.
