General
TXTbooks is an artist-run independent publishing initiative in Brooklyn, NY.
Our interest is in self-publishing as a collective while facilitating projects with artists and writers working across many disciplines. Our best case scenario is to publish those who have not yet considered producing a zine, or at least don't consider it their main practice; Our ultimate goal is to create dumb jokes and passion projects with as many people as possible.
Our publications are resolved via Risograph printing for cost-effective self production and as an informal way to aesthetically bind our output.
Founded in 2014, TXTbooks is currently maintained by Robert Blair, Thomas Colligan, Nichole Shinn, Rose Wong, and Kurt Woerpel.
Printing
We have temporarily paused printing services and do not have the bandwidth to print for one-off jobs. With that said, if you are interested in learning more feel free to read through our archived F.A.Q.
As a general rule, Riso is best-suited for smaller jobs like posters and zines. Larger jobs take a lot of time and consideration so please be mindful when planning a project. More info at...

If anyone wants to reach out and talk more about how we run/fund, feel free to do so! We are trying our best.
Internships:
We do not offer internships at this time and currently do not plan to do so. If you are interested in learning more about running a publishing project of this nature, please feel free to email us or come by our studio and say hi! House Font:
The font family used on this website and across our materials is "TXTbooks GrotTXT." It has three widths, was designed for us by Kurt Woerpel, and is not available for general use.
Design Studio:
We are available for design work and collaborations if you like. Books, websites, etc. Full portfolio upon request.
Moodboard Policy:
We totally get it -- we're working design professionals. Sometimes the client, or boss, or whoever MAKES you make a moodboard. From personal experience it's a profoundly strange to work at a company and see another designer present your *little zine project* you made for yourself as a 'mood' for a huge-budget client... and then see the style get dissected as something new for whatever application. Not to humble brag or something but like... how are you supposed to feel about that? We've had to do it... we've been there... it doesn't feel great but that's the state of the industry you know? Every piece of cultural ephemera, art, whatever speaks to something else and falls in a lineage of inspiration and reference and etc. etc. yada yada... Agree or disagree with it as a practice, it DOES happen. MOODS happen. And it's a nice practice to support the source. Anyways, throw us some funds... buy a zine of ours... do some kind of settling the score type payment or something... IDK. And if you can, try to hire the original artist to recreate their work for that new and nice budget. It's the right thing to do.
